I think since Jim is such a die-hard Bon Jovi guy (ha) y’all should shoot for some 80’s greatest from them!
Also, I think I remember seeing somewhere on here that Bart was looking to go ‘country’ - so let’s hear something maybe a little bit country - a little bit of rock and roll!

    :)

    ~Jessica

ps- I do agree with Mike though, that unburying some NKTB would be awesome!!

You could do amazing things with “That’s what I like about you” by the Romantics.

I must say, I love your blog. You guys always put a smile on my face. And your music is the GO TO choice for my son, Jonathan. (Jonathan is 19, mentally retarded and autistic and he wears out your CD’s….you can see him on my blog if you dig deep…)

Michael Bolton only does cover songs…therefore, it is truly impossible to cover Michael Bolton.

    @ 9:14 am

haha, way to get out of that one Mike! lol. But NKOTB sounds good “oh oh oh oh oh oh, the Right stuff”, lol.

But seriously, another good suggestion would be something from Audio A…..ok, ok, I know you covered “Tremble” before (which, btw was incredible!), but I recall Bart saying something to the effect of “I couldn’t do what Mark does every night…it would give me a heart attack.” Well, he’s so fit now that he’s lost weight, I think it’d be awesome to hear how you’d all handle something like “Underdog”. ;) That would be awesomely amusing!

  • 34.

I think you should do “Hit Me Baby One More Time” in a ballad type version….slow and not so poppy…

Ha ha I love the requests so far-awesome.

I definitely think you should do some NKOTB-Right stuff, Tonight, Please Don’t Go Girl…lol

…and I would love to hear you do “Beautiful Day” but U2!

We definitely need to see some dancing with some singing!

Loving it…looking forward to this! :)

You know…I have a feeling that “Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding would be pretty awesome. :) I can almost picture it…hmmmm…yeah. Fortunately you can’t hear me snort when I laugh…because I do a lot of that when I read your blogs…a good thing really. Now that I think about it, I probably shouldn’t have mentioned the snorting part. It is something that only happens when I think something is particularly funny…AND I swear it is contagious, because I never snorted until I spent two years working with one of my BFFs…okay…I have gone on long enough for you to forget the request…”Try A Little Tenderness” by Otis Redding. After I admitted to snorting…I think you can throw me a bone…right?

So I shared your CTGB with my friend, a fellow MM fan, and after we stopped laughing we brainstormed. I’m from an island, so I’d love to see you guys do Harry Belafonte’s Banana Boat song, you know “Daylight come & me wan’ go home”. She would love to see you do The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Just imagining Bart doing the accents in either song was enough to set us off again. God Bless you for bringing laughter to the lives of your fans.

We put this in the wrong place the first time, my wife and I definitely think “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi because of all the cheesy 80’s metal lines. “Jukebox Hero” by Foreigner or “Rock and Roll Band” by Boston. You need to do a road song or rock band song, they’re usually so awful, they’re great.

Just saw you guys in Phoenix - awesome concert! Couldn’t wait to check out your blog and make a request. DH wants to hear the Beach Boys - “God Only Knows” (which would fall in the category of a NOT 80’s song) I was thinking of: “Africa” by Toto, “Owner of a Lonely Heart” or “Leave It” by Yes, and lastly, “Smoke From a Disant Fire” by the Sanford Townsend Band. (another NOT 80’s song)
Thanks for letting us put in our requests. God bless you guys!

    Here are a few I know you could do better, (except for the Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers) than the originals}

    - Bringin Sexy Back (with some of the ehhemm “bad” parts edited)
    - Hey Ya (outkast)
    - King Tut (Steve Martin)
    - Don’t Fence Me in
    - Happy Trails To You
    - Mustang Sally
    - All Star ( Smash Mouth)
    - I’m A Believer or Comin To America ( Neil Diamond)
    - Mama Eu Quero ( by Carmen Miranda also covered by Lucille Ball ) , but you have to wear the fruit hat!
    - They Call Me Fireman (George Strait)
Just a few with a wide variety!

    Dear MercyMe,
I love and live for your music. It is very uplifting and keeps my life in perspective. Four years ago, April 14, 2008, I lost my best friend in the entire world and in my life to a car accident. Her name was Jessi Marie Stewart and she had 2 beautiful children, Tyler and Nicole. Anyway her husband, Joe, the kid’s father was killed in an accident 12 years earlier. Jessi and I lived together and raised the kids until her death. It was for more than 11 years. When she died that night I lost her and the kids and essentially my family. I miss her and the kids very much and wait in anticipation for the day we are all reunited again in the presence of our Lord. So, the song that I would love to hear you all sing is “More then a memory” by Garth Brooks.

I ask again, beg and plead for this, it would mean the world to me!

“More then a Memory” by Garth Brooks

P.s. I love the song “Homesick”. When I saw you in concert in Chicago and you explained the lyrics and background it really hit home for me. I listen to it on a reguler basis. Thank You!

    With sincere graditude,
    Angie Lorenz

Thanks guys for being so “grounded.”
Clearly walking in His light, flying with His Spirit, and yet so grounded. You are an inspiration. You’re funny too. Ever consider Stand Up before you knew you had all this musical talent? In Christ-Always.

We have been married for 19 years, and the song “Don’t worry, be happy” by Bobby McFerren has strong juju in our relationship. We both love the band and have been loyal fans for many years. We go to every concert near Virginia Beach, and look forward to the sheer joy of you boys every year! Awsome job at the Rock Church last month! We count you as one of our blessings in life! God Speed on your return to our area!

Pray for your newest fan; Kyle Williams, she has cancer that is spreading throughout her body and Sherry has been sharing the Lord with her through your albums, and keeps telling her, “Ooh, ooh, you know it’s gonna be alright”.

I’d love to see you sing your Ten Simple Rules song for the kids - it’s awesome!

You’re going to be performing at my church in Maryland next month and I am hoping this is going to be on your playlist then too.

I just heard it today for the first time (it’s on the Top 25 songs of 2008 at HisKids.net), and I just loved it.

I received a link to y’all’s By-Request-Only stuff & have been sitting here alternately singing along and laughin’ fit to kill at your antics! (Okay, mostly laughin’ fit to kill!)
Love your wacko side, & have been tuned in to your spiritual music for quite awhile as well. :>)
Thanks so much for showing this corny side–this transparently Real side–of y’all to your fans!

Here are my requests (most of which are NOT 80s songs):

    Long Tall Texan
    The Hokey Pokey
    Black Water (by The Doobies)
Heard It Through the Grapevine (as done by Creedence Clearwater Revival)
Visions of A Sunset (from Mr. Holland’s Opus)
    True Colors (by Cindi Lauper)
Ahab the Arab (by Ray Stevens)
I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends (The Beatles)
